As Pendennis Falmouth enters a new phase of growth and investment, SuperYacht Times sits down with Charlie Ross, Director of Operations, to discuss current activity at the yard, future plans, and how the company continues to blend craftsmanship with technological innovation.   Having joined the business almost 20 years ago as an ex-Lloyd's surveyor, Charlie has worked throughout the company’s spectrum of operations, from refit project management to new-builds. He is now bringing his broad collective experience to the management of the Falmouth facility, working closely with the Vilanova facility and partners at both Cockwells and Norfolk Interiors. Are there strategic or physical developments on the horizon?  The most recent development has been the reorganising of our management structure, which allows us to focus more effectively moving forward. Over the past decade and a half, hybrid propulsion has come on leaps and bounds. Perhaps surprisingly, in our increasingly environmentally attuned society, combining diesel engines with electric motors and battery banks was considered a radical idea as little as 15 years ago.  Fast forward to 2025, and hybrid technology powering yachts has matured significantly. Here, we speak to Vladimir Zinchenko, CEO of Slovenia-based Greenline Yachts and its recently-launched brand, GX Superyachts (unveiled at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show) and discover more about the latest advances in hybrid propulsion, harnessing AI to further environmental aims, and avoiding the dreaded ‘greenwashing’ in yachting. How has hybrid propulsion advanced since the inception of Greenline Yachts 16 years ago? Sixteen years ago, we pioneered hybrid propulsion in the leisure boating segment by introducing our Greenline 33. Since then, systems have become more compact, efficient and easier to operate. As the Mediterranean cruising season gathers momentum, demand for yachts is surging – particularly for vessels ready to cruise at short notice. In recent weeks, Edmiston has reinforced its leadership in the market with a record-breaking performance: with 16 yachts sold within a 16 week period, in total, the firm has sold 800 metres of yacht length, generating over €500 million in sales.  This unprecedented brokerage success is matched by a fresh wave of standout listings. Most notably, Edmiston has brought two major names to market: the 115-metre Ahpo, Lürssen’s award-winning flagship, and the 57-metre Dream from Abeking & Rasmussen, which returns to the market for the first time in a decade. Among other notable vessels are the  55.5-metre Moon Sand from Lürssen, the 50-metre Ohana, and the 46-metre Excellence V. In today’s superyacht landscape, luxury is no longer solely defined by a yacht’s design or the exclusivity of the destination. True luxury lies in the seamlessness of the experience – where every detail has been anticipated, and guests can immerse themselves in the moment with complete confidence. And yet, one of the most vital elements underpinning this experience – security – is often overlooked, misunderstood, or introduced only as a reactive measure. Having spent over two decades in the security and risk management space, including elite maritime military units, and working alongside Royalty, Government officials, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and private crews, Ben Gavins, Director of ARX 360, has seen how expectations around superyacht security have evolved. “We’re not just providing protection,” he explains. “We’re integrating into a lifestyle.
