A major fire broke out on Thursday evening at Port de la Lave near Corbières Beach, west of Marseilles, destroying two yachts and severely damaging a third. The fire broke out onboard the 26.88-metre Leopard yacht Naisca IV, before spreading to the nearby vessels.Authorities report that the blaze began at 17:29 local time on 9 January, with Marseilles firefighters deploying 63 personnel, 19 vehicles, aerial reconnaissance drones and the Caesar firefighting robot to combat the rapidly spreading flames.The operation became more difficult as the 22.7-metre OCEA yacht Aldabra and a 17-metre flybridge yacht broke free from their moorings, hampering containment efforts. Firefighters extinguished the blaze nearly six hours later at 23:23.Naisca IV and the 17-metre yacht which was moored on its port side were destroyed and partially sunk due to extensive fire damage, while Aldabra, which was moored to starboard, sustained severe fire damage on its port side.Authorities deployed oil containment booms covering a

The details and renderings of a new 25-metre stabilised monohull explorer yacht concept by Paul Bury of the studio Bury Design have been unveiled. The explorer yacht concept is available in two different versions depending on prospective owner’s wishes: the coupe variant and the enclosed flybridge variant. Similarly to a trimaran, a ‘stabilised monohull’ yacht exhibits three individual hulls. However, the stabilised monohull design carries the majority of her volume in the central hull, while a trimaran is known to distribute the volume more evenly across three hulls.Designed to traverse the world, either through the open seas or more mellow coastlines, this yacht’s stabilised monohull layout is central to her character. Also known as YN 21255, Project Angelica is part of the Heesen 55m Steel series, which includes sisterships Iris Blue, Reliance and the first in the series, Azamanta which was launched in 2015. The motor yacht features an exterior design by Espen Øino and a refined interior, resulting from a collaboration between Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and David Kleinberg Design Associates. Spanning seven decks, the 4,978 GT yacht boasts an aft deck pool, a primary helipad on the bow, a secondary helipad on the upper deck and a spacious wellness centre that includes a spa, sauna, gym and yoga studio. Her owner previously had another yacht with the same name, now sold and renamed Samsara. He also owns Intrepid, a 69.15-metre vessel built by Damen Yachting, which is docked behind Infinity in this picture. Last Thursday, the 90-metre converted superyacht Lauren L was seen cruising here near King George Island, Antarctica. Built in 2002 by the German shipyard Cassens-Werft, Lauren L was initially constructed as a passenger vessel named Sun Bay II, designed to accommodate up to 100 guests across 42 staterooms. Later, the vessel underwent an extensive refit to transform her into a superyacht. This conversion included adding a spacious master suite, spa facilities, and relocating the helipad to create more deck space for tenders and outdoor amenities. Designed by Alpha Marine Ltd, Lauren L features a steel hull and superstructure and is powered by a single MAK engine, enabling a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 15 knots. The 2,991 GT yacht offers accommodations for up to 40 guests in 20 staterooms, with space for up to 32 crew members. She is currently for charter at the weekly rate of €695,000.
