Designing interiors of this superyacht was a truly interesting experience and challenging. Working for a range before helped us on creating strong visual connections that ensured harmony among the components. In tropical waters, CO₂ systems must function in transcritical mode, which reduces energy efficiency and demands advanced technology. These factors make CO₂ particularly suitable for yachts operating in cooler climates or those willing to invest in the required infrastructure.Ammonia (R717)Ammonia has been a staple in industrial refrigeration for decades, thanks to its excellent thermodynamic properties and zero GWP. It is one of the most energy-efficient refrigerants, offering lower operational costs and improved cooling performance with smaller refrigerant volumes. However, ammonia’s high toxicity and corrosive nature necessitate robust safety measures, including leak detection systems and emergency protocols. The material requirements for ammonia systems also complicate maintenance.
