Yiannis Andriotis: "As a former professional sailor and yacht owner, I’ve always believed yachting should push beyond traditional limits. As an owner, I experienced the constraints of certain designs firsthand. When discussing this with a friend, who became the client for our first 61-meter project, we shared a vision to create something different, both in design and approach.It's easy to add features to a yacht, but ensuring those features work under demanding conditions is a different challenge. Having faced these issues with previous vessels, we were determined to overcome them. With the collective experience of our team of engineers, build managers, and crew, we understood the operational and maintenance challenges that are often overlooked. The Netherlands is a dynamic engineering hub.What makes it special is the way people approach problems. They don’t just pass issues on to someone else; they take responsibility, find solutions, and take pride in the results. We don’t claim to be specialists in everything, but we make sure that the people who combine their experience with ours are the best in their fields. This flexibility allows us to bring in top talent from all over the world, giving us the freedom to design, build, and produce the best explorer yachts without limitations. Our in-house production and engineering adjust depending on the project, but management is always kept in-house to ensure consistency and oversight."Procurement and Supplier RelationshipsHow does&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6958" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Leapher Shipbuilding BV (Company)">Leapher</a>’s procurement strategy contribute to the overall success and quality of the yachts being built? Gert Kaijen, Head of Procurement, Logistics, and Safety: "Our procurement strategy is built on three key pillars: quality, relationships, and pricing. Pricing is in the third position not because it’s unimportant—on the contrary, it significantly affects our bottom line, especially at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6958" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Leapher Shipbuilding BV (Company)">Leapher</a>, where the purchase value compared to our internal costs is very high. How do you foster relationships with suppliers to ensure that&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6958" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Leapher Shipbuilding BV (Company)">Leapher</a>’s yachts are equipped with the best technology and materials available? Gert Kaijen: "The key word here is communication. To consistently deliver high quality at a reliable price level, it’s essential to maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Treating them fairly and keeping the lines of communication open is vital. As the Procurement Department, we are the bridge between our own organisation and our suppliers, and sometimes we must play devil’s advocate to keep everyone aligned.In turn, suppliers and subcontractors need to be honest and consistent in delivering the expected quality and price. Elegance and seamless living: How Sanlorenzo’s 44 Alloy redefines luxury yacht design

The global yacht market faced notable challenges in 2024, with fewer than 650 transactions completed in the first ten months, marking a contraction in both brokerage and new yacht sales. This continues the market shift that began in the third quarter of 2022. While the global yacht market saw a 23% decline in 2024, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="IYC (Company)">IYC</a> reported only a 6% decrease in transactions compared to 2023.Michel Chryssicopoulos, Global Managing Partner, shared: “Despite a challenging market, we’re pleased to report growth across all divisions. By the end of October 2024, sold 44 superyachts, booked 2,790 charter days, and secured over 790 weeks on our charter fleet. Many potential buyers have been holding off, waiting for prices to decrease,” explained Raphael Sauleau. Thanks to our dedicated sales team, we have already exceeded last year’s figures,” Michel Chryssicopoulos commented. As of 31 October 2024, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="IYC (Company)">IYC</a> secured 53 new Central Agency (CA) agreements for yachts over 24 metres, surpassing last year’s total of 44 and solidifying its position among the top three brokerage firms for new listings.
